The wind brought water to prairie farms. Then windmills went away, but the wind remained.

Chuck Grassley thought it was time to bring the windmill back.

Without the Grassley legislation, and his effective leadership, the wind energy industry would not have succeeded.

Now, more than thirty one percent of all the electricity in Iowa comes from wind.

These turbines don’t just produce clean energy, they produce

Six thousand in Iowa alone.

Google, Facebook, Microsoft and good paying manufacturing jobs have come to Iowa for that energy. Iowa produces more of its energy from wind than any other state. It started with a simple idea and the renowned work ethic of one senator.

Senator Grassley is literally the father of the modern wind industry.

Grassley works.

About Senator Chuck Grassley:

A workhorse throughout his entire life, from the family farm to the factory floor, Chuck Grassley is hard-wired to make things work. Whether rigging lawn mowers together to save time and money or grilling federal agencies about wasteful spending and mismanagement, Senator Grassley works tirelessly to fix what’s broken.

And he won’t stop until the job gets done right.

First elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980, Grassley since then has visited each of Iowa’s 99 counties at least once every year. He makes it a priority to engage with people from all walks of life to strengthen the process of representative government. Keeping in touch with Iowans is Senator Grassley’s touchstone for good government.

Iowans have come to know that their senior U.S. Senator is accessible, conscientious, honest, hardworking, and always on-the-job. Iowa taxpayers appreciate Senator Grassley’s tight-fisted grip of the federal purse strings.

He works to put the lid on federal spending, restore limited government and make government work for the people, not the other way around.

With 34 years of service in the United States Senate, Chuck Grassley has cultivated broad public policy expertise and earned key leadership assignments. Policymaking from these influential committees can make a difference in the everyday lives of Iowans.

From agriculture to taxes, health care, education, renewable energy, foster care, public infrastructure, and trade, Chuck Grassley gives Iowans a big voice at the policymaking tables in Washington, D.C.

In January, Senator Grassley was tapped to serve as chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee.

A farmer from Iowa, Senator Grassley is the first non-lawyer to lead this big-league committee. It has legislative and oversight jurisdiction of the criminal justice system, intellectual property and immigration.

In just 12 months, the Republican leadership got to work on the people’s business, restored the functions of the committee system and legislated and debated amendments on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Here’s a snapshot of major achievements in the first year of the 114th Congress. The Republican-led U.S. Senate adopted anti-human trafficking laws, approved a balanced budget, passed a 5-year highway reauthorization, advanced trade promotion authority; overhauled No Child Left Behind; and, fixed the flawed Medicare payment system to keep doctors and hometown hospitals open for business. For the first time, the U.S. Senate also voted to repeal and replace Obamacare and affirmed the Keystone XL pipeline. Looking ahead in 2016, Senator Grassley will continue to advance his bipartisan reforms to criminal sentencing and juvenile justice systems.

Senator Grassley knows Washington can’t tax, spend and borrow America’s way to prosperity. With your support, he’s ready to keep on working to make the federal government work for Iowans.
