http://RoadmapToNowhere.com/ was created by Mike Conley and Timothy Maloney in response to mistakes they’ve found in Mark Z. Jacobson’s 100% Renewables proposal. This presentation ( and http://RoadmapToNowhere.com ) also incorporate errors uncovered by 21 leading experts in energy research, as they reviewed Jacobson’s plan. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/plugged-in/landmark-100-percent-renewable-energy-study-flawed-say-21-leading-experts/ The conceptual framework offered by Mike Conley and Timothy Maloney regarding Mark Z. Jacobson’s proposal include the following: – Renewables are INTER-dependent. Nuclear power is IN-dependent. – Fuel is storage, yet “100% Renewables” is a fuel-free system. – We must transition to carbon-free fuels, not a fuel-free paradigm. The first offshore wind farm in the United States started producing clean energy in mid-December. Located 13 miles from the coast of Rhode Island, the five turbines will power 17,000 homes, including all the energy necessary to sustain the nearby Block Island. The wind energy industry is the fastest-growing job sector in the country. Despite their popularity in Europe, however, coastal turbines have faced resistance in the U.S. “We have a huge, clean energy resource off of our coast, and to date we have not tapped into it,” Deepwater Wind CEO Jeff Grybowski told VICE News correspondent Arielle Duhaime-Ross. The island of Ta’u in American Samoa now runs on nearly 100% solar energy thanks to 5,300+ solar panels and 60 Tesla Powerpacks
In the U.S. today, wind power accounts for about five percent of all electricity generation, but a new project aims to change that. A $300 million installation off the coast of Block Island, Rhode Island, takes the renewable energy technology out to sea. Gov. Gina Raimondo anticipates the project is the beginning of a new industry, but some locals are skeptical. Mike Taibbi reports.
A wind farm is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce electricity. A large wind farm may consist of several hundred individual wind turbines and cover an extended area of hundreds of square miles, but the land between the turbines may be used for agricultural or other purposes. A wind farm can also be located offshore. Many of the largest operational onshore wind farms are located in Germany, China and the United States. For example, the largest wind farm in the world, Gansu Wind Farm in China has a capacity of over 6,000 MW of [More]
